The book also presents lifestyle habits for maximizing purpose as well as cutting-edge neuropsychological treatments for combatting depression.

Nate Shanok is a neuroscientist, author, and professor located in Delray Beach, Florida.

He performs brain activity scans and brain-based therapeutics for clients with a variety of psychiatric and neurological conditions. The services include:

  1. Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)
  2. Brain mapping using quantitative EEG (qEEG)
  3. Cognitive Training
  4. Neurofeedback

Additionally, he teaches courses in the Department of Psychology at Florida Atlantic University and recently founded Gamma Neuroscience, a consulting company for neuropsychology clinics and research institutions. He has published research articles on:

  1. Mindfulness meditation interventions
  2. Computerized training of executive functioning skills
  3. Utilizing brain activity metrics to screen for psychiatric and neurological conditions
  4. The effects of TMS on mental health and brain activity patterns

He is currently conducting research on the efficacy of Deep TMS and IV ketamine infusions for treating various psychiatric conditions. He also hopes to determine how these treatments impact resting-state brain functioning and self-reported perceptions of one’s purpose in life.
